This is a place where corporate, government and non-government organisations can come together with our organisation and our community to make real change.
The word "jumbun" comes from the local Girrimay Aboriginal language and means Witchetty Grub from the candle nut tree.
Jumbun Community is a small Aboriginal community that was formally established in 1978. It is situated halfway between Cairns and Townsville and located in Murray Upper, North Queensland. The community consists of 109 people who live on 600 acres of beautiful and unique freehold land that is surrounded in part by tropical rainforest.
Jumbun Limited manages Jumbun Community. It forms partnerships to benefit our community which is located approximately 2 hours south of Cairns and 2 hours north of Townsville. Together, we improve the lives of our people by supporting our community on the ground.
Jumbun Limited has an elected Chairperson and Directors who work closely with the Office Manager to deliver services to the community. We are all about people helping each other. We bring together Aboriginal leaders, corporate, government and non-government organisations to share their resources, skills and knowledge to create real change in our community.
Jumbun Limited succeeds because of the passion, commitment and strength of our people – from our Board and employees, the Jumbun Community and our corporate partners. If you think you can help, we want to hear from you.
